A review of history shows just how much epilepsy treatment has progressed in recent decades. Despite the important progress made in the treatment and scientific understanding of epilepsy and seizure disorders nowadays, much more progress is still needed to improve the life of those living with seizures and ultimately to win the fight.

While epilepsy occurs in 1 out of every 100 persons worldwide and seizures occur in one out of every ten persons in a lifetime, persons with epilepsy and other seizure disorders as well as their loved ones often spend their lives working against misconceptions and limitations that prevent them from accessing appropriate medical care, education, employment, and other basic community resources.

The purpose of  Epilepsy Free is to support people with epilepsy  and seizure disorders (including psychogenic non-epileptic seizures) achieve a life with FREEDOM FROM the limitations that EPILEPSY and SEIZURES might bring.

In order to make this possible, Epilepsy Free supports those who have epilepsy and seizure disorders, by promoting education about epilepsy and seizures throughout the US and granting of continuing education and summer camp scholarships for persons with epilepsy and seizures.

With regards to Psychogenic Non-epileptic Seizures (PNES), Epilepsy Free supports providing education about PNES to the general public, patients, loved ones and professionals who work with them.
